RRP Rule
The
RRP (renovation repair and paint rule) was issued on April 22 2008 and went into effect on April 22 2010. The rule requires all persons or entities performing renovation activities in residential homes, child care facilities, and schools to be
EPA certified, trained and approved to follow lead safe work practices.
This rule is intended to help prevent or limit lead dust and/or contamination in buildings where children will be present.
Inspectors who will be sampling lead in building materials mast also be trained and certified prior to assessing and sampling suspect materials.
Flood and fire restoration contractors are the most common violators of the EPA RRP rule. Home inspectors are not qualified to perform the assessment and sampling of materials unless properly trained and certified by an accredited EPA training provider. We have inspectors who are qualified to perform these activities.
